When the nerve of a tooth becomes infected, the pulp in the root must be removed. This can happen when cavities go unchecked. The dentist’s goal is to always save your natural tooth, so a root canal may be necessary.
What Happens at an Appointment
A local anesthetic will be given to numb the area surrounding the infected tooth. We understand you may have some apprehension regarding the procedure, so we do everything possible to make sure your experience is easy and pain-free. The dentist will use a special tool to remove the infected pulp. It will then be sealed and capped with a crown.
